Load Banks

Load banks are constructed with switched loads and are used to electrically load electrical equipment to test it: batteries, power supplies, UPS, welding power sources, etc. They can also be used to generate electrical conditions for testing specific electrical devices, such as electromechanical relays or breakers. In that case, they become a production or troubleshooting test bench or part of it.

We supply load banks from a few kilowatts to several hundred kilowatts.

Description

The load banks are constructed with :

  • a set of loads which will absorb the energy taken from the source, the resistive loads being Coudoint products: wirewound, edgewound, woven resistors, optionally sliding or rotary, manually driven or motorized rheostats.
  • a cooling system: natural-air cooling, or forced-air cooling by fans
  • load switches: manual switches, electromechanical relays or electronic power switches (IGBT, etc.)
  • a control device for selecting the load value either manually or electronically.

An electronically controlled load bank can be fitted either:

  • with an electronic interface allowing the equipment to be remotely controlled by an external computer (serial or parallel link, field/industrial bus)
  • or with a built-in electronic control unit able to tune the load according to preset values or laws, and to measure and record voltage and current values as well as other useful values (temperature, etc.) which can be stored on a PC by using Coudial interface software.

Series and models

Numerous standard models are proposed as battery discharge testers.
We design other load banks according to the specifications or need descriptions provided by customers, using our own components and using the most of our wide range of proven solutions we have been building for many years:
